Sir Ridley Scott decided against featuring the original Xenomorph (the titular Alien of the film series) in the film, as "the sequels squeezed him dry, he did very well... and no way am I going back there." Instead, this being an indirect prequel to Alien (1979), he decided to feature a Xenomorph ancestor/parent. However, criticism from fans who complained about the absence of the famous creature after the film's release made Scott change his mind, and include the creature in the sequel Alien: Covenant (2017).
