This is one of four times that a movie starring Jim Carrey had a sequel in which Carrey was not involved. The other sequels are: Scemo & più scemo - Iniziò così... (2003), Un'impresa da Dio (2007) and Ace Ventura 3 (2009). Carrey appeared in Scemo & + scemo 2 (2014), but that was the second sequel to Scemo & più scemo (1994), not its immediate successor. Batman Forever (1995) was a slightly different circumstance, as Carrey did not play any title characters.
