Although Star Trek V - L'ultima frontiera (1989) and Rotta verso l'ignoto (1991) were based on the original Star Trek (1966) television canon, they were released while TNG was on the air and making new ones. 'The Final Frontier' was released between Star Trek: The Next Generation: Up The Long Ladder (1989)(#2.18) and Star Trek: The Next Generation: Manhunt (1989)(#2.19). 'The Undiscovered Country' was released between Star Trek: The Next Generation: A Matter Of Time (1991)(#5.9) and Star Trek: The Next Generation: New Ground (1992)(#5.10).
