Over three weeks, the production took advantage of the picturesque backdrops of the Turkish ancient towns of KayakOy and Tlos, but the primary Turkish locations were in the heart of Istanbul, which Crowe called "an amazing and vibrant city." He continued: "It was extremely important for us to actually be there. You just can't recreate what Istanbul has-its architecture, its atmosphere."
