The show's announcer Rod Roddy became best known for his brightly colored jackets. Originally, he wore regular jackets, and in the big men's shop you can only buy brown, black, blue and gray, but Rod found those colors so boring. When he went to Hong Kong, and came back with a pastel jacket Bob Barker said he kind-of liked the jacket and that's all the encouragement he needed. After that Rod switched over to brightly colored jackets. His brightly colored jackets were his trademark, and even wore them when making public appearances. Music director, Stanley Blits used to call Rod the Doc Severinsen of The Price Is Right". Rod traveled to Thailand every year to scour the exotic fabrics of Asia, and had hundreds of jackets custom-made. He'd come back with the weirdest stuff sometimes.
