Among Southern Italian Criminal gangs known as the Mafia, there is a code of silence called Omertà where one does not talk about about criminal activities and refuse to give evidence to authorities. In the past, if one were to be charged with a felony, a member would at most serve five or ten years without hesitation. In the United States, with the introduction of the RICO act (Racketeers in Corrupt Organizations), the penalties include large fines, asset forfeiture, and sentences spanning decades, those caught up in the dragnet are more likely to talk in exchange for reduced sentences. What makes Dwight case unique is he is one of the few guys who never talked, he finished his sentence without fanfare.
