The new ensemble cast of characters' connections to legacy characters are as follows: Samantha Carpenter is the illegitimate daughter of Scream (1996)'s Billy Loomis; Wes is the son of Scream 4 (2011) Ghostface survivor Judy Hicks; Chad and Mindy are the nephew & niece of Scream (1996)'s late Randy Meeks; Vince Schneider is the nephew of Scream (1996)'s Stu Macher; and Amber Freeman lives in Stu Macher's former house on Turner Lane. The only Woodsboro high school teenage character in the film to not have a connection to an onscreen legacy character is Liv McKenzie, though her surname seems to be a reference to Casey Becker's unseen neighbors mentioned in the prologue of Scream (1996).
