The Book of Life and Netflix's limited series, Maya and the Three, both have a very similar set ups, including deals with Mexican culture, geometric animation style, and involves a Dia De Los Muertos-type Underworld. Not to mention it shares many of the same voice cast including Zoe Saldana, Diego Luna, Kate del Castillo (who voices an identical character in both, Le Murete here and Lady Micte, in Maya and the Three), Jorge R. Gutiérrez, Danny Trejo, Cheech Martin, Gabriel Iglesias, Eric Bauza, and Grey Griffin.
