There are a number of unions (line organizations) which protect members of the New York Police Department depending on rank :-Police Officers - Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA).-Sergeants - Sergeants' Benevolent Association (SBA).-Detectives - Detectives Endowment Association (DEA).-Lieutenants - Lieutenants Benevolent Association (LBA).-Captains & above - Captains Endowment Association (CEA).
