This was one of composer Howard Shore's first professional gigs. He was hired as the show's first musical director. At Dan Aykroyd's request, he recruited several professional musicians to be members of the Blues Brothers Band. A few years after starting work on this show, he began working with David Cronenberg. He also went on to win Oscars for his scores to the Lord of the Rings films.
