None of the main characters from the Resident Evil video games appear, only villains: it is revealed that Matt will become the Nemesis from the third game (the games do not provide a back story for the character), and Jason Isaacs has a brief cameo as Dr. William Birkin from the second game. All the sequels had at least one of the games' main characters.
