The Mad Max franchise was originally slated to continue as an American TV show in the mid-1990s but creator George Miller felt TV could not do justice to his settings and characters as TV at the time was mostly controlled by the networks in America and they were not big on a lot of violence on their shows. However, the discussions for the TV show planted the seeds for Fury Road.
