Originally Dhoom 3 was going to take place in Mumbai, India (and was mentioned at the end of Dhoom 2) and Shah Rukh Khan was going to play a villain but Shah Rukh Khan opted out of the film because of his regularly sustaining injuries during other films shoot. Dhoom 3 entered development hell for years until YRF finally roped in Aamir with his conditions for how the film should be made.
