Hailing from Andalasia, Giselle displays similar traits to the Disney Princesses. Director Kevin Lima describes her as "about eighty percent Snow White, with some traits borrowed from Cenerentola (1950) and La bella addormentata nel bosco (1959), although her spunkiness comes from Ariel of La sirenetta (1989)."
