Penny's father's name is Paul, which could be tribute to Paul Frees, a veteran voice-over ace. Frees voiced many historical figures on the original Peabody's Improbable History (1959) segments, as well as other characters (most importantly Boris Badenov) throughout Rocky & Bullwinkle Show (1959).
