Some elements prominently featured in Tartarughe Ninja III (1993) are adapted in this series. In Secret Origins, the Turtles travel back in time to Feudal Japan and battle a Feudal Shredder. Also the idea for the characters the Ultimate Ninja and the Supreme Daimyo are loosely inspired by Kenshin and Norinaga.
