Although he's considered a "serial killer" throughout the movie and in movie history in general, the John Doe character only kills two people for their sins (although there's no doubt he's directly responsible for all the deaths). He kills the obese man (gluttony) and the lawyer (greed). The prostitute (lust) is killed by a customer, the model (pride) kills herself rather than be disfigured, and the sloth victim survives, although he'd probably prefer to die. Envy (John Doe himself) is shot by Detective Mills. The wrath victim is Detective Mills, he also survives.So technically, John Doe actually kills only two people for their sins. He also kills Tracy and her unborn baby, but not for any sins they've committed.
