This was the first of two movie franchises where James Horner scored the sequel after Jerry Goldsmith scored the first film in the franchise. Goldsmith scored Star Trek (1979), while Horner scored this film. The other was the Alien franchise where Goldsmith scored Alien (1979), while Horner scored the sequel Aliens - Scontro finale (1986). Both the Star Trek and Alien movie franchises began in 1979.
