During his entire flight training period, Sully said that the official flight simulators never had any software that prepared him for the unthinkable, landing a commercial plane on water. He had to rely almost entirely on his instincts and his co-pilot. After his engines had been irreparably damaged by a flock of Canada geese, he had a mere three minutes and twenty-eight seconds in which to prepare for his unprecedented landing.
