Despite her role as Lizzie's rival Kate Sanders, Ashlie Brillault has claimed that, in reality, she and Hilary Duff are best friends and always get along well. Duff has even referred to Brillault as the "sweetest girl" she has ever met, and even went as far as to say that Brillault played a great mean girl in the show.
