According to the 15th January 1981 edition of 'Film Journal', source novelist R. Lance Hill was reported to being adapting his own novel for this picture. In the end, Hill was billed for this under the pseudonym of "David Lee Henry" and was credited as a co-screenwriter with John Crowther.
