Ian Schrager, co-owner of Studio 54 along with Steve Rubell, is never mentioned in the movie. It was a deliberate strategy since at the time of the movie's release Schrager was still alive (while Rubell died in July 25, 1989 of AIDS), in an attempt to avoid any lawsuit by Schrager in case he considered his depiction as negative or unfavorable.
