This movie and Megamind (2010) have many similarities. First, they are parodies of other pop culture icons: this movie was inspired by monsters from the 1950s and 1960s, while Megamind was inspired by superheroes and villains like Superman, Batman, and Lex Luthor. Second, they talk about empowerment: Susan feels proud to be a monster, while Megamind accepts his role as a hero. Finally, they both have aliens: this movie has Gallaxhar, and Megamind has the titular character, along with his sidekick Minion.
