Specifically, the scene where Travis is calling to ask Betsy out on a date. During that scene in Taxi Driver (1976), the camera tracks to the right to shoot an empty hallway, this was to emphasise how uncomfortable the phone conversation was. This was a subtle way of visually showing Greg's state of mind.
