Senta Berger has in this movie a role very close to the one she will have twelve years later in another Sam Peckinpah's film : Cross Of iron, where she will co star Jim Coburn - also present here. In both films, she will try to convince to the men she loves that war is useless. But both Coburn and Heston's characters will proceed their military missions.
