For the third successive year, Russell Crowe was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in a film which was also nominated for Best Picture, after Insider - Dietro la verità (1999) and Il gladiatore (2000). He won Best Actor for Gladiator, while that film and this both won Best Picture.
