Only three songs from the original 1940 film are used: "When You Wish Upon a Star", "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee (An Actor's Life for Me)", and "I Got No Strings". The original film also included the songs "Little Wooden Head" and "Give a Little Whistle" and the reprises of "Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee" and "When You Wish Upon a Star".
