Sohanlal Kanwar after completing Tadap was to produce the film for Nana Patekar. Nana was only going to direct the film at this point . This is when Amol Palekar was going to play the lead. When Sohanlal passed away, Sudhakar Bokade decided to produce the film, and Nana decided to play the lead due to Amol Palekar now looking very old for the character.
