In the movie, the Shivers' department store located in fictional Southport, North Carolina and owned by Helen Shivers' (Sarah Michelle Gellar) family is actually a real store called Harrell's Department Store located in Burgaw, North Carolina. As of 2019, the store looks very similar to the Shivers' store in the movie, selling a mix of clothing and home appliances.
