The novelization reveals that the dog fight's aftermath leaves Bruce and Betty with some psychological trauma. Bruce is troubled by the realization that he killed living creatures with his bare hands and how much he seemed to enjoy it. Betty is traumatized by the Hulk covering her mouth and watching him revel in his power as he brutally slaughtered the mutated hounds. She pictures Bruce's hands and chest as the Hulk's, imagining him subjecting her to the dogs' fate and making her worry about the Hulk's destructive potential.
