Including the show Manifest (2018), this is the fifth series in which the pilot episode centers on mysterious events which occur on a passenger airliner (at least in the twenty-first century). The other shows include: Into The Night, Lost (2004) , Fringe (2008) and The Strain (2014). The first show, Into The Night was shot on an airliner that couldn't land, and had go keep flying fast enough to avoid the sun, because it was instant death for anyone caught out in it, or who looks at it. The second and third shows were produced by J.J. Abrams while the last show was produced by Lost collaborator Carlton Cuse. Lost was shot in Hawaii; The pilot of Fringe was shot in Toronto but set in Boston, while the rest of the season was filmed in New York City and the later seasons were in Vancouver; The Strain was set in New York City but the majority of filming took place in Toronto; Manifest was set and filmed in New York.
