With the exception of Dr. Julia Hoffman, doctors of science on this series did not fare well. Dr. Peter Guthrie was killed in a car crash by Laura Collins when he discovered that she was a phoenix. Dr. Dave Woodard was murdered through a lethal injection by Barnabas Collins once he discovered that he was a vampire. The lethal injection was reluctantly concocted by Dr. Julia Hoffman to disguise the death as a heart attack. Dr. Eric Lang was killed through a voodoo doll by Angelique (disguised as Cassandra Collins) in an attempt to prevent him from helping Barnabas permanently escape his vampire curse. In 1970 Parallel Time, Dr. Cyrus Longworth, as his evil alter-ego John Yaeger, was justifiably strangled to death by Barnabas after Yaeger tried to kill that time band's Maggie Collins (nee Evans), who he kidnapped and held hostage and Barnabas saved, and then Barnabas himself.
