In a scene where Clark Kent and Perry White argue over Clark's investigation into the Batman's activities, Perry mocks Clark's good nature and says that 'The American conscience died with Robert, Martin, and John.' It is never explained who these three men are, but it is possible he meant Robert 'Bobby' Kennedy, Martin Luther King Junior, and John F. Kennedy, who were all famous people in the political arena in favor of reforms and were killed by lone gunmen. JFK was also featured in Zack Snyder's first DC Production, 'Watchmen' and it was revealed, at least in the Watchmen universe, that one of the Watchmen (The Comedian) is responsible for the assassination of JFK.
