The character of Manny Weisborn (Joseph Wiseman), Miami crime lord, and Luca's mentor, was based on Meyer Lansky. Throughout the series, Weissborn is always making references to Lansky's New York City associates, like "Lucky" Luciano, "Bugsy" Siegel, and Frank Costello.
