It was announced in June 2019, that the series version of "Top Gear Extra" would be cancelled as a formal behind the scenes companion series to the corresponding episode of Top Gear, but the name would still be used as branding for the behind the scenes content on other platforms. Rory Reid will then be primarily hosting "Top Gear Electric", focusing on the more cutting edge technology, which is a good fit due to his coming from a more modern computer science background. Chris Harris is still on (main) Top Gear, along with his new (to the show) colleagues Andrew "Freddie Flintoff and Paddy McGuinness.
