Stellan Skarsgård's predecessor to the role of Martin Vanger was Peter Haber. This is not the first time they have played the exact same character. Stellan played the Swedish agent Carl Hamilton in Täcknamn Coq Rouge (1989) and Den demokratiske terroristen (1992). For the production of Fiendens fiende (1990) the role of Hamilton went to Haber.
