The low flying helicopter flying through the Vietnamese street was accomplished by CGI. The body of the helicopter was on a hydraulic lift attached to a low loader (and disguised by the crowd and the camera angles) but it was far too dangerous to have any real rotors so giant fans blew debris around and the visual effect of the rotors spinning was accomplished by computer graphics. Part of this scene was shot in Thailand and then completed at Pinewood studios near London where a Vietnamese market place was recreated on the back-lot.
