In the German dub, Pvt. Pyle is named Pvt. Paula. This is because the character Gomer Pyle is unknown in Germany, as Gomer Pyle: USMC (1964) and The Andy Griffith Show (1960), which the former show was spun off from and in which the Gomer Pyle character of a dumb country bumpkin originated, never aired there.
