Maribel's butterflies on her dress, matches the butterfly theme on candle and other appearances in movie. Mirabel's gift was to help the members of the family to realize they are more than their gifts. The house starts to crack when they left her out of the family photo. Then Mirabel help her sisters break out of their expected roles and be more of themselves. The same way caterpillars break out of their cocoon's (dark, eyes closed) into the light as new versions of themselves as butterflies.
