As a running gag, bathrooms are never shown on Enterprise schematics. This joke is referenced in Primo contatto (1996) when Zefram Cochran asks Geordi, "...don't you people from the twenty-fourth century ever pee?" Also, in an interview on The Tomorrow Show (1973) with Tom Snyder, James Doohan stated that bathrooms weren't needed in the future because "that's what phasers are for."
