The power tool used to drill the safe in the opening scene is a real tool called an Electromagnetic Drill Press. This particular unit appears to be the 1970s version of Milwaukee Tool model no. 4210-1, which (as of 2020) is still in production. The device and similar magnetic drill presses have many legitimate uses, such as drilling holes on vertical surfaces or at elevation in the field where the work piece cannot be moved.
