The meeting between Thornhill and Kendall in the empty woods, ostensibly to say goodbye, has been homaged many times. For example, in "Law and Order: SVU," ADA Alex Cabot is presumed killed in a drive-by shooting in the episode "Loss." It is only in a final scene that she's shown to be alive to her co-workers, during a pause in the action of her placement into witness protection. As in this film, the characters say goodbye in a deserted safe spot.
