When Betty goes to her first audition, she's driven to the gates of Paramount Studios. According to director David Lynch, due to Paramount Studios no longer allowing their logo to be shown, only the majority of gates are seen. The shot is notably similar to the shot in Viale del tramonto (1950) where Norma Desmond goes for her comeback.
