From shortly after the Persian Gulf War in 1991 until shortly after Drew Carey took over hosting, only American-branded cars and trucks (Fords, GMs, or Chryslers) were given away as prizes on the show. When foreign-branded cars were reintroduced, they were done so slowly, starting with cars that were literally built in America (like the Honda Accord) and eventually adding any brand sold in America.
