Justine Bateman has admitted in recent interviews that after the cancellation of Family Ties; and with the dwindling of her fame; she became very depressed for awhile and had a bit of an identity crisis. But she said this forced her to become stronger and develop new skills; like going back to school and getting her Computer Science Degree at UCLA; as well as becoming a clothing designer and a producer. She said she is much happier now that she has more autonomy in her life and is not so dependent on fame for self-reliance.
