The series puts a priority on using practical effects, meaning characters like the Orcs are real actors in makeup instead of being CGI. In an interview with IGN in July 2022, Executive Producer Lindsey Weber shared that the prosthetics for the Orc faces are "thin and nimble to allow actors to move their mouths and emote the way humans do." She also revealed the series will include female orc characters.
