In Jonathan Ross Presents for One Week Only: David Lynch (1990) Lynch claims that the robin in the final scene is a real bird. When told that it looks like an artificial bird, he says, "Well, it's playing a role" and smiles broadly. It was later alleged that although the robin was a mechanic, it was made from an actual dead robin that the props department had found on the street.
