Jun Fukuda was instructed by Tomoyuki Tanaka to have Akira Ifukube compose the score for the film; however, Fukuda wanted to differentiate the score from Honda's films and got a hold of Masaru Sato. Tanaka was furious, but Fukuda won out and Sato signed on.
