Herman Cain was originally going to have a cameo as Carter's father, but the idea was later dismissed for unknown reasons. In Rush Hour (1998), Carter said his father was killed on a routine traffic stop. Cain's scene would have involved Lee and Carter visiting Carter's father's house, where they cause a commotion by having a fight using household objects, angering the elder Carter. The reason the idea was abandoned is definitely not unknown as it's stated in this item. It's been established that Carter's father was killed on duty, therefore, it would have made no sense to include a scene with Carter's suddenly living father.
