This movie was shot on a variety of formats, including 16mm film cameras, RED cameras, Executive Producer and Director Michael Bay's custom 8K camera called "The Bayhem", GoPros, and the majority being ARRI Alexa IMAX cameras on a 3-D rig. What resulted was aspect ratios that switched, not just between sequences, but between individual shots in IMAX 1.90:1, Univisium 2.00:1, and 2.28:1. Unfortunately, this happened to be one of the biggest complaints with this movie amongst audiences, as they found the constant back-and-forth framing to be quite jarring.
